PURGASON, Herbert Newton Sr., 85, of Mineral, died Friday, February 12, 2010 at his home "Old Yellow Farm". He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Page Vaughan. Mr Purgason is survived by his eight children, Herbert Newton Jr. (Jo Anne), John Matthew (Janet), George Philip, Patti Page (Danny), Robert Daniel (Jody), Rosemary Lee, Christine Cassie and James Thomas (Christy); 21 grandchildren; two brothers, Jim of Georgia, and Bobby of Pennsylvania. His remains rest at the Lacy Funeral Home, Route 522, Mineral, where family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in South Anna Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery. Mr. Purgason was a Millwright and member of Millwrights Richmond Local Union 1402, and the Metropolitan Lodge No. 11. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holly Grove Rescue Squad.
