Nettie Parker Deal Burks, 83, former Pastor's wife, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 9, 2009. She was a native of Deep Creek in Chesapeake. She resided in Virginia Beach, Va, at Sentara Rosemont Nursing Care. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 63 years, Rev. James F. Burks, Sr. Survivors include 5 children, Janeise Burks Collins and husband, Sam, Sharon Burks Pattisall and husband, Rev. Bob Pattisall (deceased), Jim Burks, Jr. and wife, Sandi, Nathan D. Burks and wife, Sharon, and Tim Burks and wife, Lois; two brothers, Rev. Zach Deal and Tommy Deal and wife Dot, 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services conducted by Pastor Jeff Pinder, assisted by Rev. Zach Deal of Chesapeake, brother of Nettie Burks, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2009 in Little River Baptist Church, Bumpass, with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nettie's memory to Little River Baptist Church, 4959 Buckner Road, Bumpass, VA 23024.
