Garland Brooks
BROOKS, Garland Waldrop, 83, went to be with the Lord on June 30, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Edith Apperson Brooks; daughter, Joan Ballard Brooks; and sister, Peggy B. Goodman. He was the son of the late Johnnie A. and Katie W. Brooks. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Derwood A. Brooks and J. Allen Brooks. Mr. Brooks was a lifelong member of Hopeful Baptist Church and co-owner of D.A. and G.W. Brooks Lumber Company in Montpelier. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday (tonight), July 2, 2010 at Hopeful Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3 in Hopeful Baptist Church, with interment in church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bon Secours Hospice, Hopeful Baptist Church, or West Hanover Volunteer Rescue Squad. Arrangements by Lacy Funeral Home, Mineral, Va.
